Hamilton to serve as honorary chair for Yoder’s campaign

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) – Former U.S. Rep. Lee Hamilton has announced he will serve as honorary chair for the congressional campaign of Democrat Shelli Yoder.

Hamilton, a Democrat, held the 9th district seat in southern Indiana for 34 years before retiring in 1999. Yoder ran for the seat in 2012 and received 45 percent of the vote in losing to Republican Rep. Todd Young. Young is one of three Republicans seeking to replace U.S. Sen. Dan Coats, who is retiring.

Hamilton says Yoder, who serves on the Monroe County Council, brings an “impressive record of community service and pragmatic problem-solving” to the campaign.
