INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — St. Elmo’s annual Shrimp Cocktail Eating Championship ended with a world record this year.

Competitors took the stage on Georgia Street in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday.

The world’s top competitive eater, Joey Chestnut, entered the contest hoping to beat his own world record of 10.42 pounds set during last year’s event.

Downing 12.25 pounds of shrimp cocktail in eight minutes, Chestnut topped his previous record and was once again crowned the event’s winner.

Miki Sudo ate 7.42 pounds to come in second place.

24-Hour News 8’s own Chris Widlic even joined in the fun.
