Pros create free portraits for those in need

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Giving back one portrait at a time was the goal Saturday at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

More than 70 local photographers, make-up artists and hair stylists gathered for the sixth annual Help Portrait event.

Organizers say the idea behind the event is simply to connect people or families in need of a portrait with the professionals free of charge.

The folks getting their pictures taken have lost their images because of a number of reasons such as personal loss or tragedy, homelessness and even victims of domestic abuse.

The event is worldwide and takes place in 62 countries.

Last year they finished the day with about 75 portraits last year. This year, the goal was 200.
