Study ranks best, worst college towns for 2015

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A study done by WalletHub ranked the best and worst college towns in the nation for 2015.

According to the study, the ranking is based on 23 metrics that include the quality of higher education, crime rates and cost of living.

Here’s how Indiana college towns ranked overall:

  • Muncie, IN ranked 60/326
  • Bloomington, IN ranked 66/326
  • Indianapolis, IN ranked 110/326
  • Fort Wayne, IN ranked 174/326
  • Evansville, IN ranked 190/326

The survey also measured factors such as the most students per capita, the lowest adjusted cost of living for young people, and the highest percent of part-time jobs.

Most students per capita:

  1. Bloomington, IN
  2. College Station, TX
  3. Gainesville, FL
  4. Iowa City, IA
  5. Ann Arbor, MI

Lowest adjusted cost of living for young people

  1. Edinburg, TX
  2. Brownsville, TX
  3. McAllen, TX
  4. Laredo, TX
  5. Muncie, IN

Highest percent of part-time jobs

  1. Bloomington, IN
  2. Provo, UT
  3. College Station, TX
  4. Kalamazoo, MI
  5. Muncie, IN

Ann Arbor, Michigan took the No.1 spot as the best college town, whereas Paterson, New Jersey took the last spot as the worst college town in America.
