Verizon shows interest in buying Yahoo’s internet business

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Verizon says they’d be interested in buying Yahoo’s web business.

At the UBS annual Global Media and Communications conference in New York on Monday, Verizon’s Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo said Verizon would buy Yahoo’s mail, news and sports sites, and advertising technology, if it’s a good fit.

Yahoo’s board met on Friday in the third and final day of meetings.

In the meetings, the board discussed various options for the company, including selling its internet business.

It’s a move after the company’s struggle with its search and display ad businesses.

The company has been holding meetings with top executives to decide its future.
