ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) – A Markleville reserve police officer was arrested of the preliminary charge of stealing a license plate from a police vehicle.

Dion Poole, 23, of Anderson, was arrested at a Waffle House at an exit off of Interstate 69, while in his Markleville Police Department uniform.

The Indiana State Police said that Detective Bob May was contacted by the Jonesboro Police Chief Dennis Conrad. Conrad wanted to report a license plate for one of their prior police vehicles, a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria, had been stolen from a locked cabinet at the police department.

May learned that the stolen plate had been recently seen on the personal car of a Markleville reserve police officer, Dion Poole.

Poole had been a reserve officer for the Jonesboro Police Department from April to June, when he was terminated by Chief Conrad. Poole had since been hired by Markleville as a reserve police officer.

The stolen license plate was found on Poole’s personal black car, underneath the vehicle’s correct license plate.

Poole was booked into the Madison County Jail and is being held on a $4,000 bond.
