‘Bison-tennial’ art project celebrates IN’s 200th birthday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – In celebration of Indiana’s big upcoming birthday, a public art project has been announced – and it’s name is a play on words.

It’s called the “Bison-tennial” Public Art Project. Artists will decorate 5-foot-tall fiberglass bison to be put on display around Indiana. The goal is to have at least one bison in each of Indiana’s 92 counties.

The bison are expected to be completed around May 2016. They’ll be highlighted along the Bicentennial Torch Relay route, which runs from Sept. 9 through Oct. 15, 2016.

Hoosiers across the state are encouraged to get involved in the project.
