Cathedral HS cancels events after student death

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — After-school activities at Cathedral High School were cancelled Thursday after the death of a student.

Sophomore Jennifer Maginot died early Thursday morning, according to a school statement.

“Guidance counselors, the Cathedral chaplain, campus ministers plus additional grief counselors were available today for any students or teachers who wished to talk,” a school statement said. “A mass was held this morning and a prayer service midday.”

All after-school activities on and off campus were cancelled on Thursday.

The school did not release a cause of death, but a school official confirmed it was not a suicide.

Dozens tweeted memories of Maginot and offered condolences to her family.
