Indianapolis Children’s Choir

Bring the joy of music into the moments you spend with family and friends this holiday season, with help from the Indianapolis Children’s Choir! Afterall, spreading this kind of joy is easy. You don’t need a piano or a pianist. You don’t have to be a professional singer. You just have to be willing to sing with others and have a great time. Joshua Pedde, assistant artistic director at the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, tells us how!

  1. Sit down with your family and talk about what music traditions you have at the holidays and what music traditions you had as a kid.
  2. Print off the ICC’s Caroling Book and/or use Karaoke recordings to have a singing moment at your holiday party. We have provided 10 songs in our Caroling Book here that you can download and print off for free and links to Karaoke versions here.
  3. Make a song booklet out of the Caroling Book, tied together with a ribbon. You can find instructions here.
  4. Make some Wassaill (the traditional drink of carolers) for your guests to drink after singing. Here is a very easy and tasty recipe.
  5. Make a sign for each of the 12 days of Christmas (or print out these). As an activity before the party, have children color the sheets. Pass out the signs and sing The 12 Days of Christmas. Have each person hold up their sign as their day is sung.
  6. Incorporate music into the whole family gathering by playing your favorite Holiday recordings.
  7. Give the gift of music to your child by contacting us and finding out how your child can be part of the ICC
