IMPD says they spent the overnight hours looking for witnesses in the city’s latest homicide.

Police say around 10:15 p.m. Monday, they got several calls for help. When officers arrived on N. Chester Ave., they say they found Jones shot. Emergency workers on scene say Jones died before they could get her to the hospital.

Investigators say it doesn’t look like someone broke into the home. They say the two children inside are doing fine.

When it comes to homicides here on the east side near N. Chester Ave., there have been a few close by this year. Between Keystone and Emerson avenues and 30th and 38th streets there were seven shootings this year. This latest shooting would be the eighth.

So far police have not released if she is related to the two children in the home. Investigators say if anyone has information to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 262-TIPS (8477).
