IMPD clothes kids in need during annual ‘Clothe-a-Child’ event

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Christmas came a little early for some central Indiana kids thanks to IMPD officers.

Over 40 officers spent their day giving back to kids in need by helping them pick out essential clothing during the annual Clothe-a-Child event.

Amaya Corbin is 8 years old. She and her brother were thrilled to shop with the same cop seen patrolling their neighborhood in an area considered a hot spot for crime.

“I got a hat, gloves, scarf and jeans. I had so much fun,” said Corbin.

What makes IMPD’s clothe a child different from other charity events is that kids also had the opportunity to see the caring side of officers.

They ate breakfast first and traveled together in the officers squad car. During the trip down U.S. 31 the children were given free rein to play with the lights and sirens.

They also met with Santa Clause at Hubler Chevrolet. They were told he traveled from the north pole to hand them toys.
