INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Christmas is just one week away and if you’re still looking for gifts, Friday may be a good day to buy online.

Dec. 18 is Free Shipping Day. Many stores are offering free shipping on online orders Friday with no minimum purchase.

Almost all of the stores participating are promising your presents will arrive by Christmas Eve. More than 1,000 retailers are taking part according to FreeShippingDay.com, a website that tracks all the stores offering the deal.

Some of the big ones retailers are Wal-mart, JC Penney and Bloomingdales. Other stores are putting their own spin on the day. Best Buy is offering free 2-day shipping on popular tech items until Dec. 22.

If you don’t order your Christmas presents Friday, you’ll still be able to get your presents by Christmas at most places — but you’re going to have to pay for expedited shipping. The deadline to send packages that will arrive by Friday is Dec. 23.

While Friday’s main focus is free shipping, there are quite a few stores advertising some last minute deals as well. Experts say you should look for deals combined with free shipping. Sometimes the free shipping isn’t necessarily worth it, because stores may hike the price of your gift.

So, experts say to look for free shipping and a discount — or order your small, inexpensive gifts today, since you won’t have a minimum purchase for free shipping. This time of year, you’ll almost always get free shipping if you spend at least $50.
