KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and the long awaited the Force Awakens all played back-to-back at the Regal Pinnacle Stadium in Knoxville.
The theater was one of 22 theaters that played a marathon for Star Wars fans as they prepared for the release in the next installment of the franchise. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” didn’t open in theaters until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, but hard-core fans were at the theater bright and early for a marathon before the big premiere.
For super fan John Morgan, the experience was much more than just watching the movies. He says he likes being around the fans.
“I like to talk Star Wars and it’s great to be around everybody. Everybody cheering and just can’t wait for the next movie to start and I can’t wait for the next movie. I love them all,” said Morgan.
Morgan said he took a two hour nap before the first movie. He said he dozed off a bit during the first film, but he hoped he could stay jazzed up about the movies all day in order to make it through all of the films.
“Anybody that can stay in a movie heather for over 16 hours it has to be a true Jedi,” said Aaron Yarnnel.
Super fan Dakota Brown purchased all the Star Wars merchandise on Thursday, everything from popcorn buckets to cups.
“I’m super excited not only do I get to see the original movies on the big screen one last time probably, I get to see the brand new movie,” said Dakota Brown. ” The director kept everything a secret as far as the story line so I think it’s pretty exciting.”
Including the premiere, Morgan, along with other fans, watched 15 hours 53 minutes (953 minutes) of movies and that doesn’t include breaks or previews.
