INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person died after a head-on crash on the southwest side of Indianapolis Saturday, according to Indiana State Police.

ISP says around 3:20 p.m. two vehicles collided on I-70 at mile marker 73.3, near Lynhurst Drive and just east of Indianapolis International Airport.

Police believe Martha Southwick, 75, of Terre Haute, was driving a Dodge Caravan when a semi hit her from behind. She overcorrected, crossing the grass median and hitting an eastbound Chevrolet car head-on.

Southwick, the only person in the van, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, Chasity Montavo, 41, of Greenwood, and a passenger in the front seat were transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the semi did not stop.

The right lane of I-70 eastbound was closed for around two and a half hours.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call ISP Trooper Justin Geltmaker at 317-899-8577.
