Police: 2 hospitalized after Lafayette shooting

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Police responded to a report of a person shot in the 1900 block of Schuyler Avenue just before 6 p.m. Sunday.

Lafayette Police Sgt. Chad Robinson said that officers are unsure as to what led to the shooting, but said it is not a random crime.

One male was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. Robinson said the victim also had what appeared to be shrapnel from the gunshot in his chest.

A female patient was also taken to the IU Health Arnett for injuries to her back. The female victim said someone kicked her in the back at the time of the shooting.

Both victims are said to be stable at this time.

After an investigation, police arrested 25-year-old Jordan S. Thomas for battery by means of a deadly weapon.
