Hendricks County man charged in FSU bomb threat case

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A Hendricks County man is facing charges after investigators say he called in a bomb threat to Florida State University.

28-year-old Brandon Wingler of Amo is accused of calling the Tallahassee, Florida university from a pay phone at a Marathon gas station in Greencastle on Dec. 17.

On the afternoon of Dec. 17, the Greencastle Police Department was contacted by the Florida State University Police Department, stating that a bomb threat had been called in originating from the Marathon at 405 North Jackson Street in Greencastle.

FSU investigators said that a man called in a threat and identified himself “The Sketch Artist,” then called in another threat shortly after and identified himself as “Sketch 182.”

Court documents state that an ex-girlfriend of Wingler identified him after seeing surveillance pictures posted on social media.

Police say that Wingler admitted to calling in the threats during an interview at the Greencastle Police Department.

Wingler faces two counts of false reporting and two counts of intimidation. All counts are level six felonies.

During an initial hearing on Monday, Wingler pleaded not guilty and was appointed a public defender. He is set to go back to court next year on Feb. 24.

A no trespass order was set as Florida State University. Wingler is currently being held in the Putnam County Jail on a $1 million bond.
