INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Members of IMPD spent part of the day bringing unexpected holiday cheer to dozens on families Monday.
An anonymous donor gave $20,000 to the Indy Public Safety Foundation. Members of IMPD and Old National Bank used the donation to assist families in need within IMPD districts.
Officers who know the residents in their districts selected families or individuals and gave them $100 gift cards.
“It’s those kind of stories where we see people who are really, really diligently trying to do the right thing,” said IMPD Sgt. Dawn Higgins. “And for lots of circumstances, (they) end up in situations where they have limited income and limited resources.”
The donor hopes to inspire other business owners to work with IMPD to build relationships and improve the quality of life within their communities.
