INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two masked men robbed an 85-year-old woman at gunpoint Sunday evening, acccording to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

It happened in the 3700 block of Harvest Avenue.

The suspects demanded cash from the woman. She told the men she didn’t have any money but she did have food that she recently purchased from the store. The suspects rummaged through the house looking for possible valuables. When nothing was discovered the men left the home with two cell phones.

“[She is an] 85-year-old old woman. I don’t know what is wrong with these boys anymore,” said Mike Baker, one of the victim’s neighbors.

No arrests have been made and police only have a vague description of the suspects. Neighbors say there have been other break-ins in the area, but it’s unclear if those crimes are connected.

Despite not knowing who is responsible, Baker had a message for the men who are responsible for the robbery.

“I say you guys need to go to jail, there is no sense in that,” said Baker. “She was in the security of her own home where she was supposed to feel secure and now you have broken her trust in her own home.”

The victim told 24-Hour News 8 that she did not want to talk on camera; however, she believes using a soft tone encouraged the suspects to leave her home shortly after telling them she didn’t have any money.

“They know these people don’t have a lot of money,” said Baker.
