Winter officially begins Monday night

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The weather pattern is like early to mid fall, but the calendar will officially say Winter at 11:49 Monday night.

Usually the Winter Solstice marks the shortest amount of daylight in the year, but since it occurs so late this year, technically, Tuesday and Wednesday will be the shortest days of the year in central Indiana. Sunrise Monday was at 8:02 a.m. and sunset was 5:24 p.m.  On Tuesday and Wednesday,  sunrise is at 8:03 a.m. with sunset at 5:24 p.m.
