IU chapter of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity suspended

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – The Indiana University-Bloomington chapter of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity has been suspended.

According to Mark Land, associate vice president of public affairs at IU Bloomington, the fraternity was found responsible for violations of the student code of conduct related to hazing and drug use. The violations included two separate incidents during the fall.

Land also said that the university worked collaboratively with the fraternity’s national headquarters to reach the decision.

According to a statement on the Phi Kappa Psi National Headquarters website, all fraternity activities have been suspended on campus. The statement also said that the fraternity is hoping to return to campus in the fall of 2017.

In October, IU’s Alpha Tau Omega fraternity was shut down after a vulgar video appeared online.
