Man pleads guilty in rape of elderly Greenwood woman

GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — A man accused of raping and attacking an elderly woman in her Greenwood home this year has pleaded guilty in the case.

Ira Link was arrested the day after the crime, which happened May 1.  Police say the victim answered a knock at her door, was pushed back into her home, and then beaten and sexually assaulted while having her life threatened.

Court documents say Link confessed to his mother and she tipped off police.

Link was preliminary charged with rape, burglary and criminal confinement in the case.

In a hearing this week, Link pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, burglary, criminal confinement and being a repeat sexual offender.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 22, 2016.

According to the sex offender registry, Link was registered as a sexually violent predator. According to the records, he was convicted of child molesting in 1993 and was sentenced to 39 years. He was released on June 6, 2014.
