Sentencing delayed for Indiana man convicted of killing teen
RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) – A sentencing hearing has been delayed until late January for a Richmond man convicted of murder in the beating death of a 17-year-old boy.
The (Richmond) Palladium-Item reports that a new sentencing hearing for 21-year-old Deandre Plant was scheduled for Jan. 25 after a continuance was granted. He originally was set to be sentenced Monday morning.
Plant is the second co-defendant found guilty by a jury of killing Caleb Woosley with aluminum baseball bats in May 2014. He faces between 45 and 65 years in prison.
A jury also convicted 18-year-old Kore Buchanan of murder in Woosley’s death. He was sentenced to 58 years in prison followed by two years of probation.
Two other co-defendants, 18-year-old Michael Pruitt and 19-year-old David Maish, reached plea agreements with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
