Indy man dead after vehicle struck by train in Montgomery County

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indiana State Police confirmed that a man was dead after the minivan that he was driving was struck by a train on Christmas Eve.

Kenneth Vansickle, 62, of Indianapolis was driving a minivan in Montgomery County. According to police, Vansickle accelerated through the crossing, and was struck by the oncoming train.

The CSx train struck the minivan on the passenger side and Vansickle died of injuries sustained in the crash.

According to officials, no one on the train was injured. The train consisted of two engines and there were no freight cars being pulled at the time of incident.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
