LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A Lafayette woman celebrated her 103rd birthday Wednesday.

Una Serafine was surrounded by family and friends at the Digby Senior Living Community. Serafine was born in West Virginia where she lived most of her life. She lived in Las Vegas for a while before coming to Lafayette a few years ago.

She said there really is no secret to living a long life and thinks it’s funny people keep asking her what it is.

“Just the normal way. No secret about it,” said Serafine. “You live your life the way you’re supposed to and everything will be all right.”

She said if she could live her life again, she wouldn’t change a thing.

“I loved my parents and all of my friends. They’ve all been so wonderful to me,” said Serafine. “I wouldn’t change none of it.”

Serafine always thought her birthday was too close to Christmas for the obvious reasons. Just to put things in perspective, in 1912, the year she was born, Woodrow Wilson became president of the United States and it was also the year the Titanic sank.
