FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — A Fishers teenager accused of murdering a 73-year-old in 2014 has requested a hearing to change his plea.
Max Winkler is accused of killing Henry Kim in Windermere Park. Investigators found disturbing letters after the crime, that Winkler had written detailing how he planned to kill somebody.
Winkler’s attorney had filed for an insanity defense, but experts found Winkler was competent to stand trial. His trial was scheduled to begin Jan. 19.
According to the Hamilton County prosecutor’s office, Winkler’s request says the case “will be resolved by a plea agreement and should be set for a guilty plea hearing.”
Winkler is charged with murder. Although he was 17 years old at the time of his arrest, he is being prosecuted as an adult.
