GARY, Ind. (AP) — Gary police are investigating the theft of a department squad car.

Police spokeswoman Lt. Dawn Westerfield says the squad car that was stolen Tuesday was locked and its keys were not inside the vehicle.

Westerfield says the car had no weapons inside when it was stolen but it contained a mounted police radio and computer.

The vehicle is a fully marked White 2010 Ford Crown Victoria with plate number 15378.

Westerfield asks that anyone who comes in contact with the vehicle not to approach it and to instead call 911 or local police immediately.
