Passengers sleep on mats at Indy airport

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Tuesday continued to be a difficult day for people traveling by plane across the U.S., and delays became so bad that passengers were sleeping at Indianapolis International Airport Monday night into Tuesday morning.

The airport provided mats for passengers to sleep on.

Passenger Jodie Pietrucha told 24-Hour News 8 she was trying to get to Portland, Oregon via Minneapolis. Her original flight was supposed to leave at 5:40 p.m. Monday. As of Tuesday morning, she was delayed yet again.

“They said it’s pretty much just a gamble,” Pietrucha said on getting to her destination.

Bad weather across the country has contributed to the delays. Multiple airlines flying out of Indianapolis reported major delays Tuesday morning. Airports urge travelers to check their flight status before going to the airport.
