Puppy dies after being left in Indianapolis dumpster

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An 8-week-old puppy died last week after someone threw her in a dumpster on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

According to a representative of FIDO, Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside, it happened on Christmas at an apartment complex near East 38th Street and North Sherman Drive.

A female resident made the discovery. Her friends and a FIDO member helped get the puppy out of the dumpster, but she died on the way to the vet. They’ve since named her Angel.

Indianapolis Animal Care and Control is now in charge of the investigation. FIDO says community members have donated more than $800, which they’re using as a reward for information leading to the person who dumped Angel.

They ask that anyone with information to contact the Mayor’s Action Center hotline at 327-4622 or email iaccenforcement@indy.gov.

FIDO says they’ll pay the reward when authorities confirm charges have been filed. They’ve asked people to hold onto their donations for the reward until then, but thank all those who have helped.
