IMPD chief honored day before resignation

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Outgoing IMPD Chief Rick Hite was honored Wednesday morning at a breakfast, just one day before he steps down.

The Minority Police Officers Association hosted the breakfast reception for Hite. Everyone was invited to attend the event.

Hite will officially resign on Thursday. Former Public Safety Director Troy Riggs will become the new chief on Friday.

Earlier this month, Hite sat down with 24-Hour News 8 and talked about his time as chief and what’s next.

“Transitioning means not necessarily going away, it means stepping aside and letting others continue on in the pathway of change,” said Hite.
