Home burns on Indy’s southwest side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Accompanied by snow flurries and bitter temperatures, firefighters battled a fire on the southwest side of Indianapolis Monday morning.
It happened at a home in the 5600 block of Alcott Lane around 6:50 a.m. This is near Mooresville and Southport roads.
Chopper 8 flew over the scene where heavy smoke was billowing over area homes. Firefighters were battling the fire for about 45 minutes.
According to a Decatur Township Fire Department spokesman, there were no injuries reported in the fire. The only person living in the home made it out OK, but the house is a total loss.
Officials say the fire started in the chimney.
