Colts Insider Mike Wells opens up about Pagano, contract extension

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – It is a story that fans can not stop talking about, and that Colts Insider Mike Wells had wrong.

Wells had reported that Pagano would leave the Colts on Black Monday, and that the team would be looking for a new head coach.

Colts owner Jim Irsay extended a four year contract to Head Coach Chuck Pagano on Monday.

The move shocked many, including Wells.

“Basically his (Irsay) resume speaks for itself. A team that won 11 games in each of his first three seasons, a step forward in the playoffs, during each of those first three seasons…you don’t have your franchise quarterback for nine games,  you fire your offensive coordinator, and you still barely missed the playoffs. I don’t think that Chuck Pagano had to put his sales pitch on.He probably laid out a piece of paper and said ‘Look what I have done,” said Wells.

Wells went on to say he believes Irsay made the right move by keeping Pagano and he also says Colts fans should feel good because there’s no doubt Irsay heard their voice about Pagano.
