Returned holiday gifts fill Plainfield warehouse

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – Many shoppers still have unwanted holiday gifts they need to return.

Liquidation.com, a company that manages and resells returned merchandise, estimates shoppers will return $63 billion in gifts from this holiday season.

As so many people return gifts and retailers aim to get rid of 2015 inventory, many returned items end up in the Liquidation.com warehouse in Plainfield.

The company said this week is its busiest week of the year, as people start to return Christmas gifts.

Liquidation.com said seven of the top 10 U.S. retailers and online retailers are unloading excess inventory in Indianapolis. Many items returned retailers will not put back on shelves, because they’ve been open or gently used. Liquidation.com buys that excess inventory from the retailers and refurbishes it as necessary.

Online shoppers can then purchase the bulk inventory through online auction site here. Some people then resell the items they purchase as a small side business. You can also purchase individual items through Secondipity.com

Some of the items are apparel, Sony HDTVs, toys, computers, tools, iPhones, HP Tablets, jewelry, shoes, handbags and even sporting equipment. Jeff Rechrzigel with Liquidation.com said some of the items are at 40-50 percent discounted prices.

The warehouse in Plainfield is one of five locations throughout the United States.
