INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Mayor Joe Hogsett met with school superintendents from across Marion County on Wednesday.
The group discussed several opportunities and challenges the public school system faces.
At a news conference that followed the meeting, one superintendent had some strong remarks regarding the ISTEP results.
“We can’t rely on one test given once a year to be the marker of progress for students in our schools. We each individually have multiple assessment methods in which we measure our student’s progress. Those efforts would be identified in our school improvement plans. Surely ISTEP is one of those assessments but it’s not the only assessment in any of our schools,” said Dr. Nikki Woodson
Another purpose for the meeting was to outline the new administration’s education priorities.
