Man gets 57 years for 2014 murder

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man found guilty of fatally shooting another man in 2014 was sentenced to 57 years Friday.

Devin Brookins, 25, murdered 34-year-old Michael Willoughby early in the morning May 10.

IMPD said Willoughby was found dead in the parking lot of Sully’s Bar and Grill. A fight involving both Brookins and Willoughby reportedly ended in gunshots.

Brookins later turned himself in to police.

Brookins was sentenced to 55 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections for murder and received a five-year enhancement for using a firearm in the crime.
