Vet given keys to new, mortgage-free Noblesville home

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A central Indiana soldier severely injured in Afghanistan got the keys to his new home Saturday.

Gov. Mike Pence was in Noblesville for the ceremony for U.S. Marine Zachary Nelson.

The organization Homes for our Troops built Nelson the house, which is also mortgage-free. It’s the 200th home built by the group.

The home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and its layout will make it safe and easy for him to get around.

Nelson was injured while on tour in Afghanistan in July 2012.
