Crash causes downtown power outage

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A car crash caused thousands to lose power on Monday afternoon.

The crash occurred just before 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of West Street and South Street. By 3:15 p.m., nearly 3,000 outages were listed on IPL’s website.

Indy residents caught video of the flames created by the crash.

The Indiana State Museum was forced to close as a result of the crash.

IPL said it was also dealing with downed power lines at Harding and Washington streets.
