INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An ordinance with a with the goal of slowing gun fails to pass the City-County Council.
The ordinance would have required gun owners to report if their weapon was lost or stolen within 48 hours.
In the proposed ordinance, those who failed to report the lost or stolen firearm would have faced a $50 fine.
One of the councilors against the measure called it “unenforceable” and said it violates state law.
Members of City-County Council also tired to override the veto of a bill that would have given themselves and new mayor Joe Hogsett raises.
This attempt failed by four votes.
Councilors have not seen a raise in 14 years.
