Freedom Indiana responds to Gov. Pence speech

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The LGBT communuity had a strong response to Governor Mike Pence’s State of the State Address.

Freedom Indiana, a grassroots organization fighting to update Indiana laws against discrimination to include gay and people who are transgender held a watch party and released a statement calling the state of the state a complete letdown adding that Governor Pence chose to punt the critical issue of civil rights protections to lawmakers.

One of those organizations is Middle Ground Incorporated.

“We were hopeful that he heard the 3,000 Hoosiers say this is what we need, this is what we deserve, we’re not second class citizens, we were hopeful of that but unfortunately he didn’t hear us,” said Angie Alexander, with Middle Ground Inc.

Both organizations said they won’t give up their fight and warned that creating another RFRA would be even worse for the state.
