Indiana school district to earn more from naming rights

MISHAWAKA, Ind. (AP) – A northern Indiana school district is poised to earn more money from naming rights.

The South Bend Tribune reports that the board of Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp. in Mishawaka has approved a $25,000 deal with Zolman’s Tire and Auto Care to sponsor a concession stand at Penn High School’s TCU Freed Field.

The Mishawaka company will make the donation to an education foundation. Zolman will pay $5,000 a year for the next five years, plus signage costs. The money will go to pay scholarship administration expenses and into the school’s discretionary fund.

Separately the board approved negotiations with Mishawaka car dealer Jordan Automotive about naming rights for the school’s baseball field.

The naming rights initiative started in August 2014. So far it has pledged donations of $565,000 over 12 years.
