Man gets 6 years for robbery

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH)–A man was ordered to serve the maximum sentence in a robbery committed last summer.

28-year-old Christopher Fowler was charged and convicted of a Level 5 robbery Monday. He pleaded guilty to the June 24 robbery at the Circle K convenience store in Columbus.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s partner, The Republic, he was identified by surveillance video inside the store. Investigators initially thought he carried a pistol, but Fowler said it was a cellphone wrapped in a bandanna.

“I just wasn’t thinking,” Fowler said. “My intention was just to get some money for drugs.”

Fowler said he was making around $1,300 per week from selling drugs in his home state, Arkansas. But be didn’t make that much when he was in Columbus.

Fowler will serve his six year sentence with the Indiana Department of Corrections.
