Despite rescue effort, dog drowns after fall into icy pond
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A dog drowned after falling through thin ice on the west side of Indianapolis Thursday afternoon.
Wayne Township Fire Department and Plainfield Fire Territory rescue crews were called to a pond on Glenn Meade Drive shortly before 5 p.m.
Rescue boats and emergency responders in cold-weather suits attempted to reach the dog.
WTFD said rescuers were unable to get to the dog in time.
