Former Hendricks Co. deputy arrested on synthetic drug, bribery charges

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A former Hendricks County deputy was arrested Thursday on six charges, including dealing in synthetic drugs and official misconduct.

Jason Woods, 43, was terminated from the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department in May 2014.

He now faces preliminary charges of corrupt business influence, dealing in synthetic drug or look alike substances, conspiracy to commit dealing in synthetic drug or look alike substance, bribery, official misconduct and assisting a criminal.

A probable cause affidavit filed Thursday states Woods dealt more than two grams of synthetic drugs in 2013, while he was still a deputy.

During that same period of time he allegedly provided security in exchange for gifts, including trips to Las Vegas, according to court documents.

He and his wife, Teresa Woods, were accused of not giving back $250,000 in cash they were holding for a friend, investigators said in 2014.

Hendricks County Sheriff Galloway said in 2014 the department merit board voted to terminate the two for “misconduct.”
