Peru man dies in crash after sliding off ice-covered road
MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A Peru man died after losing control on ice and crashing in Miami County Friday morning, according to the sheriff’s department.
Authorities responded to a crash on Wabash Road west of County Road 700 East around 7 a.m.
Investigators say 52-year-old James White, of Peru, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado east on Wabash Road when he lost control on the ice-covered road.
He crashed into a ditch on the north side of the road before rolling at least once, authorities say. He was ejected from the pickup truck during the crash.
White was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital where he later died.
Investigators say he was not wearing a seat belt, which would have prevented him from being ejected.
Alcohol or narcotics are not believed to have contributed to the crash.
