Driver heads wrong way on I-70 in chase

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An overnight vehicle pursuit at one point saw the driver of a vehicle headed the wrong way on I-70.

The chase started downtown on Meridian near Jackson Place when an IMPD officer had been flagged down after a hit and run accident.

At that point, a black truck drove off heading south.

Several attempts were made to get the driver of the truck to pull over, but failed.

Instead, the truck pulled onto I-70.  The truck started heading west in the eastbound lanes.

The driver eventually came to a stop near the airport after the use of stop sticks.

The driver of the truck was taken into custody.  He was arrested for fleeing law enforcement and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to police, no one was hurt and the driver was the only person in the truck.
