Hardware stores busy as cold temps arrive

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis area is experiencing some of the coldest temperatures so far this year. Sunday even brought a small amount of snow.

Fusek’s True Value Hardware store said they have been very busy the past week. Customers have been going to the downtown business to buy items needed to fight the bitter cold weather.

Ron Hutson, manager of the store’s paint department, said, “We’ve been selling a lot of ice melt and snow shovels. People are getting ready for the winter. People have also been buying insulation for pipes and different things like that to make sure they don’t freeze.”

Hutson says you should check your doors and windows and be sure no air is getting through. Also, if you have pets, it’s recommended you buy pet-friendly ice melt.
