Transformer falls off semi, blocks Indy interstate ramps

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Crews had two busy interstate ramps on the southeast side of Indianapolis blocked Tuesday morning.

Around 6 a.m., Indiana State Police said it would be at least another hour before the northbound and southbound ramps of Interstate 465 to Interstate 74 eastbound were back open. This is near Southeastern Avenue.

The ramps reopened just before 9:30 a.m.

Police say a transformer fell off of a semi and began leaking fuel. Crews were expected to be on scene until at least 7 a.m. but the closures were still in place around 8 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
