IMPD: Fight likely led to shooting that killed 1, hurt another

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man died early Wednesday morning and another man was injured after a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Oxford Lane around 1 a.m.

When police arrived on scene they found man inside an apartment who had been shot in the hand.

Minutes later, officers were told that a man showed up to Community East Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the hospital.

Preliminarily, investigators believe the two men got into a fight where one of them was shot numerous times and the other was shot in the hand. Before officers arrived, the man shot multiple times was taken to the hospital.

The second man was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in good condition. Detectives say they’ve detained people for questioning but no arrest has been made. Inside the apartment, officers say they found “illegal narcotic evidence.”
