CUMBERLAND, Ind. (WISH) — A man and two juveniles face murder charges for the recent killing of a store clerk.

Kiree Hayes, Damion Cobb and Tyler Miller are charged for the murder of Khushwilder Singh. Cobb and Miller are 17-year-olds that will be charged as adults.

Store surveillance video showed two men wearing masks enter the Cumberland Express Mart at 11140 E. Washington St. just after 7 p.m. on Jan. 15.

According to court documents, one of the men shot Singh. An autopsy confirmed Singh died after being shot in the heart.

One of the men told a woman behind the counter to open the register but she didn’t know how. The men then left the store running and were seen by witnesses getting into a white Dodge car.

A man, identified later as Hayes, was seen getting out of a white Dodge and entering the store just minutes before the murder. Investigators believe it was Miller and Cobb in the store when Singh was killed.

This wasn’t the only gas station hit that night.

A clerk was pistol-whipped at the Rich Oil gas station at 6005 Brookville Rd. in Indianapolis later that evening. The clerk told police one man acted as a look-out while one took cash out of the drawer.

Just after 9:30 p.m., a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy found a white Dodge Stratus in a ditch. Cobb was located by an IMPD officer about two block east of where the car was found. Hayes and Miller were found together by an IMPD officer.

Each of the suspects have been charged with the following crimes:

  • Murder
  • Murder while committing a robbery
  • Attempted robbery resulting in serious bodily injury (level two felony)
  • Robbery resulting in bodily injury (level three felony)
  • Battery by means of a deadly weapon (level five felony)

Hayes faces an additional charge of carrying a handgun without a license while being a convicted felon within 15 years, a level five felony.

All three suspects are due in court Jan. 22 for their initial hearing.
