2nd phase of $14M IU Kokomo renovation nearly complete

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) – Indiana University Kokomo officials say the second phase of a $14 million renovation of a more than 50-year-old campus building is nearly complete and students are already using several brand-new classrooms.

IU Kokomo students who recently returned from winter break found 11 new classrooms, laboratories, tutoring spaces and other improvements at the campus’ Main Building.

Vice chancellor for academic affairs Mark Canada says anyone visiting that building dating to 1965 will be impressed with the results of the renovation.

The Kokomo Tribune reports that those improvements also include gathering spaces with chairs, sofas and tables and a video production room.

There’s also a nutrition lab with five fully-stocked kitchens and a computer screen that allows students to watch an instructor prepare food.
