Wrong-way car on I-69 near Evansville causes deadly crash

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say a car going the wrong way on Interstate 69 near Evansville caused a crash that killed two people.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened about 11 p.m. Thursday when a car going north in the highway’s southbound lanes crashed head-on with a van. The crash killed the drivers of both vehicles, neither of which had any other passengers.

The sheriff’s department says emergency dispatchers had received a 911 call about the wrong-way vehicle about one minute before the crash happened a few miles northeast of Evansville.

The identities of those killed weren’t immediately released.
